HawkShadow stood at the fallen tree that crossed the gap between the territories and the Gathering Island. She took a deep breath. She carefully put one paw on front of the other, trying to grip the soft, slippery bark. The scent of blood, fear, and death was so strong the she-cat's instinct was to run far, far away. However, she needed to find her mate, and her clan mates. She leaped down onto the island, the sand moving beneath her paws.
The she-cat moved through the foliage, towards the clearing the clans would be in. She didn't stop when some fur caught on some thorns. She let some fluffs of fur behind on the branches, with scratches. It didn't matter to her. She was numb with dread.
"No!" She yowled. She had just stepped into the clearing. Blood. Bodies. Death. The first cat she recognized was a nine moon old apprentice. She leaped over some rocks to get to the young cat. Gone. She remembered this apprentice just getting clearance to go.
"You may go. Stay close to your mentor, and try to just stay as back up." Said their leader. The apprentice nodded, "I'll stay safe."
The tom was sprawled, appearing to have tripped on a branch. HakwShadow could imagine his attacker had used the opportunity to pounce and slash the cat's neck open. HawkShadow licked her fallen clan-mates white face, stained red with blood.
The Wind Clan she-cat turned, scanning the clearing.
"The battle... Must have been horrible. These cats killed. Will they still join Star Clan?" The she cat said, her head tilted to the sky.
