Hawkshadow licked her kits. The scraps of fur were sleeping, breathing in and out. The brown tabby queen carefully moved away from her kits, soundlessly leaving the nest. She carefully crept out of the large gorse bush that served as a Nursery.
The long-furred she-cat stood outside for a moment, collecting her thoughts. It was just after Sundown, and most of her clan mates were getting ready to sleep. She began to get excited as she padded over to the entrance. She hadn't told anyone she was leaving... In her mind, there was no time for that. She glance around t double check the WindClan cats were all saying goodnight. Then she slipped out of the camp.
The mollie began to run across the open moor. The wind blew through her long, fluffy fur. The milk-white fur on her belly and chest was pressed against her thin body. After a minute of dashing across the windy moor, the she-cat slowed down. She was a quarter of the way to the border between ThunderClan and WindClan.
For the rest of the way the queen trotted. Soon she can to the stream that marked the border between her own clan and the forest-dwelling clan, ThunderClan. The long furred cat looked down at the stream, which lazily made its way towards the lake. It came from the Moonpool, which was her destination.

Hawkshadow carefully moved along the edge of the water, her paw prints dotting the muddy ground. Soon the excited mollie had made her way to the Moonpool. She far from her territory, and was tired. She forged on to see the place where the cats were closest to StarClan.
The narrow path covered in paw prints. She purred and trotted along it, until she saw the large cliff. Water flowed from a cleft in the steep wall of stone. The water fed the Moonpool itself. The path the she-cat stood on connect to a stone bank, next to the pool. The mollie stepped onto the cool stone bank.
Moon shine landed on the pool, making pretty blue shapes in the clear water. The fluffy mollie crouched down. She closed her blue eyes and touched her nose to the water. She took a deep breath, holding back her excitement, and slept.
Hawkshadow opened her eyes. She was on a moonlit island. It was very foggy, yet, the world felt clear and full of life. It felt like Greenleaf.
Nine cats stepped out of the mist. Hawkshadow nearly called out as she saw her sister, Rageheart. It was even harder for her when her gaze landed on Tigerflame. She stopped herself. It was time for her leadership ceremony. Somehow, Hawkshadow knew what would happen.
"Welcome, Hawkshadow. Are you ready to receive your nine lives?" StarClan asked.
"I am."
The first cat, a big black tom, moved forward. He was once a clan-mate to Hawkshadow, but he died in battle. He touched his nose on Hawkshadow's head.
"With this life I give you strength. Use it well to aid your clan." Pain seared through the molly's body. The she-cat almost fell to the ground. As soon as the pain ended, the she-cat looked up to see another cat waiting.
It was a grey she-cat. Hawkshadow recognized her as an elder who died a moon after Hawkshadow's apprentice ceremony.
"With this I give you endurance. Use it well to guard your clan." The brown tabby braced herself. Pain raked its claws across her body, even more painful then her previous life.
Hawkshadow panted as another cat, a black tom, moved forward. She didn't know who this cat was.
"With this life I give you honesty. Use it well to gain trust from your clan." More pain fell upon the queen.
A calico stepped forward. Her green eyes gleamed with excitement. She was a kit, yet she had the StarClan-like wisdom. All of Hawkshadow's attention found its way to this kit. She seemed familiar...
Hawkshadow lowered her head so the kit could touch her nose to Hawkshadow's head.
Sister, with this life I give you sorrow. Use it well to see the emotions of another cat."
A sad sort of pain hit the queen. As the she-cat shakily got up, she saw the kit sit next to another cat. Hawkshadow's mother.
Moonflower stepped forward and touched her nose to Hawkshadow's head.
"With this life I give you protection. Use it well to protect your clan like a mother protects her kits."
Hawkshadow knew what was coming, she was a mother herself. After the pain subsided another cat stepped forward.
Rageheart mewed, "With this life I give you courage. Use it well to defend your clan."
Only three more lives to go, thought Hawkshadow.
A night-black she-cat moved forward. "With this life I give you mentoring. Use it well to train the young cats of your clan."
She stepped back to the other cats as Hawkshadow collapsed. A brown tabby tom nudged her up. Tigerflame spoke,
[/b]"With this life I give you love. Use it well for cats in your care."
The pain was easier to bear than Hawkshadow thought.
Finally, it was the last cat's turn to come forward. Eternalstar moved forward. His fluffy gray fur looked as messy as it did in the mortal world.
"With this life I give you hope. Use it well to see a new world." He mewed.
The last bit of pain was finally over, Hawkshadow thought.
" I hail you by your new name, Hawkstar. Your old life is no more. You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the guardianship of WindClan. Defend it well; care for young and old; honor your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with pride and dignity."
StarClan chanted her new name. After the finished, Hawkshadow purred.
"Now, wake up silly-face!" The kit mewed.
Hawkstar opened her eyes and breathed in the pretty scent of the territories.ged on to see the place where the cats were closest to StarClan.
